PITTSBURGH — Riverfront improvements could be in store for Pittsburgh’s Hazelwood neighborhood.
Developers and community leaders are looking to improve a 1.3 mile stretch of the Monongahela River.
Currently, they’re asking for public opinion for a master plan. Their primary goal is to make the riverfront a destination for all, reconnecting surrounding neighborhoods for years to come.
Some of the visions include more trails, boat docks, a floating pool, a riverfront plaza and playgrounds.
“My hope is that it brings more shopping to the district and more parks. We need some parks over here for kids to play in,” Helena Bush, of Hazelwood, said.
A public meeting will be held on April 7 for people to voice their ideas. (CLICK HERE for more information.)
“I think it should be taken full advantage, just so the community can integrate with the project. With the Hazelwood green project,” Terri Shields, executive director of JADA House International and chair of the Greater Hazelwood Committee Collaborative, said.
