Illegally dumped garbage plaguing private properties in Allegheny Co.

A growing pile of trash outside a Sheraden church is emblematic of a larger problem across Allegheny County.

Electronics, furniture and tires can be found at hundreds of illegal sites in wooded areas or on the side of Allegheny County roads. But Channel 11 learned people are also leaving this trash on private properties.

“It becomes burdensome and also an eyesore because the dumpster is overflowing or … there's not enough space for their own trash,” said Myrna Newman, executive director of Allegheny Cleanways, an organization helping the county clean up illegal dump sites.
