It’s back! Take a virtual ride on Kennywood’s ‘new’ Old Mill

WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. — The Old Mill is back at Kennywood Park after 15 years as “Garfield’s Nightmare.”

The ride has a brand-new look that was designed, built and installed by the creative team at Scarehouse.

The ride has had many names through its 119-year history, but according to a release, many people knew it best as “Hard Headed Harold’s Horrendously Humorous Haunted Hideway,” which was the name from 1974 to 1991.

The Old Mill now, for the first time, features Hard Headed Harold, a blue-eyed skeleton who lives in the Wild West and has a penchant for mischief-making.

“Through a series of black-lit, captivating scenes that include the return of a train “gag” last scene in Kennywood’s Gold Rusher, OLD MILL riders will enjoy a new twist on this classic, five-minute attraction that floats along 1,000 feet of a water-filled trough,” a release described the ride.
