PITTSBURGH — The Jewish Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh announced Wednesday it is implementing a COVID-19 vaccination requirement.
Staff, members and guests will have to provide proof of vaccination to enter any JCC of Greater Pittsburgh facilities, effective Oct. 18.
“This timeline allows currently unvaccinated individuals to receive the required number of vaccine doses and the additional two weeks for individuals to build immunity before the policy is fully implemented,” a news release said.
The policy was unanimously approved by the JCC Board of Directors last week.
When it comes to members and guests, the policy will apply to those over the age of 12 to be able to use indoor health and fitness facilities and other programs.
According to the JCC of Greater Pittsburgh, 95% of its employees are already fully vaccinated.
On Aug. 3, an indoor face mask requirement for both vaccinated and unvaccinated people was announced. The JCC said it expects that to continue “until Allegheny County falls below the high or substantial community transmission rate.”
