PITTSBURGH — Chad Catto was driving by just seconds after a pedestrian was struck and killed on the Parkway West, Friday afternoon.

“It’s horrifying, it’s upsetting, that image is just stuck in my head,” said Catto.

According to Pennsylvania state police, a 32-year-old man was killed while trying to cross several lanes of traffic on I-376 to get to a ride-share waiting for him near the Fort Pitt tunnel and exit 69B.

The victim was struck by a car when he was in the center lane.

The man was identified as Joshua A. Knowlton, 32, of Clarington, Ohio.

While police processed the scene, they focused on a sedan with a smashed windshield. We’re told the driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and cooperated with the police.

Police said Knowlton was attempting to cross the highway to get to an Uber that was parked on the other side, when he was hit. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
