Woman killed in Bellevue shooting identified

PITTSBURGH — Police tell Channel 11 that a woman was shot near a store in Bellevue and rushed to a nearby hospital.

Investigators said County 911 was notified of a shooting in the 400 block of Lincoln Ave. First responders found a 28-year-old woman shot multiple times.

The victim has been identified as Rachel Dowden of Pittsburgh. County police said she died at the hospital.

Channel 11′s crew saw a large number of officers and crime scene tape outside of a Dollar General store on Lincoln Avenue.

Police are still working to find the suspected shooter(s).

County homicide detectives are taking over the investigation.

Channel 11 has learned Dowden was a mother of two and worked in Bellevue.

Her mother spoke with Channel 11′s Gabriella DeLuca over the phone, and she was on the phone with her daughter as she was shot. She said she could her screams.

Dowden’s sister sent us a statement in that said in part, “Please know, most of all, she was a kind, loving, and hardworking mother, who didn’t deserve this.”
