MCKEES ROCKS, Pa. — A teenager was shot near an all-star football game being played Sunday evening at Sto-Rox Junior-Senior High School. The shooting did not take place inside the stadium.
A witness tells Channel 11 people went screaming and running to safety after they heard the gunfire. The person told Channel 11 that a blue car pulled up near the stadium, someone inside fired off nearly a dozen rounds and then took off shortly before the end of the second quarter. The game was stopped as a result.
Our partners at TribLive.com said one of their employees witnessed a teen boy with a gunshot wound. An emergency dispatcher said one person was transported to the hospital.
Former Pitt football star and Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin was one of the coaches for one of the teams in the stadium.
Everyone inside the stadium was able to safely exit thanks to the quick response from police.
