Lawrence County woman arrested in connection with riots at the U.S. Capitol released from jail

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Pa. — A Lawrence County woman arrested Thursday on charges related to the Jan. 6 riots at the U.S. Capitol building has been released on her own recognizance.

Julia Jeanette Sizer, of Ellwood City, is charged with knowingly entering or remaining in a restricted building, disorderly conduct and demonstrating in a Capitol building.

At an initial appearance today before Chief Magistrate Judge Cynthia Reed Eddy in the Western District of Pennsylvania, she was ordered to appear at all hearings in Washington, D.C. and to abide by the restrictions of her release. If she violates her release terms she will face a $10,000 bond and possible jail time.

Her next hearing is scheduled for Sept. 8.

The FBI got an online tip on Jan. 7 from someone saying they had video of Sizer in the Capitol building, which they obtained through a mutual friend. Agents contacted Sizer via phone, and she denied being inside the building. She then obtained an attorney.

She was interviewed in the presence of her attorney in March, where she confirmed being in the building that day and also confirmed the video that had been submitted to the FBI did in fact show her inside the building near the Senate Press Gallery area.

Agents in the ensuing months also obtained surveillance video from inside the Capitol building which showed Sizer among the crowd, wearing a distinctive red hat that read “Trump”.

She entered the building about eight minutes after the initial surge that breached the perimeter, according to investigators.

Though Sizer is spotted numerous times in the crowd, none of the video footage shows her causing any damage or taking any property, investigators said.
