VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A family from the Pittsburgh-area was hurt while on vacation when a deck collapsed at a Virginia Beach home, sending five people to the hospital.
Two of them were seriously hurt, according to WAVY-TV, who also reported that a lifeguard supervisor on patrol rescued people trapped under the rubble.
The group was staying at the rental property in the Sandbridge community when the deck collapsed around 7 p.m. Thursday.

The injured people are expected to recover.
It’s not clear how many people were on the deck at the time.
Virginia Beach inspects porches and decks every year. It’s unknown when this deck was last inspected.
