PITTSBURGH — Inpatient, observation, surgery and Emergency Department patients at Allegheny Health Network hospitals will be allowed one visitor on site during visitation hours, according to the company.
Each patient’s visitor must remain the same person for the duration of their stay. All visitors must be over the age of 18 and be without a cough, fever or shortness of breath. Visitors will be screened at entry points upon each visit and will need to have a valid photo ID. All visitors will also be required to wear a mask at all times.
Visitation hours will not be limited under the following circumstances:
- Minor patients under the age of 18
- Patients who have an intellectual, developmental or cognitive disability, communication barrier, or behavioral concerns
- Patients receiving end-of-life care
- Labor and Delivery, including postpartum patients
Exceptions to the one visitor policy include:
- COVID-19 patients not at end of life will not be permitted visitors
- Non-COVID-19 end-of-life patients will be allowed two visitors in assigned waiting room seats
- One set of parents are permitted in Neonatal Intensive Care Units for the duration of stay; one parent may be present at the patient’s bedside
- Clergy visitation is allowed in addition to the patient’s designated visitor
