BELLEVUE, Pa. — Demand for beer is at an all-time high and area beer distributors told Channel 11 they are having a hard time keeping up with the sudden spike.
Greg Notaro, owner of Shadeland Beer in Bellevue, said for the first time in the store’s history, demand is outpacing supply. He’s having trouble keeping some brands in stock. Instead of one case, customers are buying four and five times that amount in one visit.
“I wouldn’t call it a beer shortage. I would say the demand for it has been so great they haven’t been able to keep up with it,” said Notaro said.

Beer distributor owners like Notaro told Channel 11 beer manufacturers large and small and all over the country are churning out product but can’t keep up. He’s been so busy, he’s had to tap friends and family to help out.
“If you go around and ask any beer distributor they will tell you business has increased exponentially,” Notaro said.
Customers said they aren’t making as many trips to buy beer, but when they do, they stock up.
Because of social distancing, stores that offer drive-thru are more popular than ever.
Notaro said as long as the stay-at-home order is in effect, he thinks his beer business is only going to get busier.
