MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A drive-in theater in Moon Township is ready to reopen Friday with safety changes due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Dependable Drive-In posted on Facebook that it will offer discounted prices on Friday and Saturday, with regular pricing starting Sunday.

On Friday and Saturday, Screen One will be showing “Trolls World Tour” at 8:20 p.m. Admission for that screen will be $5 per adult and $1 per child. Screen Two will be showing “The Vast Of Night” at 8:20 p.m. with an admission of 50 cents per car.

In order to keep its staff and customers safe, there will be guidelines that need to be followed. There will also be an online food ordering system.

The safety guidelines include:

  • Drivers must wear a mask when entering the drive-in to purchase tickets. The mask can be removed once the vehicle is in its space.
  • If anyone from a vehicle leaves their space, a mask must be worn. People are asked to stay in their spaces unless picking up takeout from the concession stand or using the restroom.
  • Only two people will be allowed in the restrooms at one time. Exceptions, when needed, will be made for parents with multiple children.
  • Restrooms will be closed for intermittent short periods of time to be sanitized.
  • The concession stand will be takeout only. No one will be permitted to enter. Orders will be able to be placed using the FanFood app, through which payments will be made, and a notification will be sent when the food is ready.
  • For people who feel uncomfortable about ordering food, the drive-in will allow outside food to be brought in.
  • Only one car will be parked between each set of poles. Typically, two vehicles would be parked between the poles.
  • No walk-ins or motorcycles will be permitted.

The drive-in was initially going to reopen May 6 before finding out it would not be able to. At that time, the drive-in said the following:

“As you all know, we received word yesterday from the governor’s spokesperson Dominque Lockett, that drive ins would be permitted to open providing they follow social distancing rules. Sadly, we got word today that the statement was issued in error, and drive ins in PA are not permitted to open.”

Now that Allegheny County is entering the “yellow” phase of the state’s reopening plan on Friday, the drive-in can open.

Well folks, it looks like we will be opening up next weekend! With Allegheny County now being in the yellow, we are...
