BUTLER COUNTY, Pa. — Pennsylvania State Police confirm Shawn Kelly has been found dead in Butler County.
He disappeared on Oct. 23, as his family said they last saw him leaving their house that night.
According to state troopers, a hunter spotted Kelly’s car Wednesday and immediately called 911. Kelly’s body was found inside, but investigators said they don’t expect foul play.
Kelly was a guidance counselor at Karns City High School.
“Its been too long that he has been gone, you know,” said Rachel Kelly, Shawn Kelly’s wife. “He’s just one of those guys. He would just do anything for anybody. I have never met anybody who just doesn’t like him,” Rachel Kelly said.
She said no one saw or heard from her husband since he left their house Friday night.
“We are just worried. We’re scared for him you know not knowing where he is if he is okay,” Rachel Kelly said.
She reported her husband missing on Saturday and has been working with state police ever since to find him.
“My husband has Crohn’s disease and he was scheduled to have surgery at the Cleveland Clinic yesterday. He was to go Saturday for a COVID test in Cleveland. He didn’t show up for his test, and he didn’t show up for surgery so that’s also concerning to us,” Rachel Kelly said.
She said his phone was turned off, but police were able to determine that it was last turned on Sunday morning in North Washington, Butler County near the fire department.
State trooper Josh Black said they were out in that area again Tuesday searching for Shawn Kelly.
The superintendent for Karns City Area School District said their thoughts and prayers for Shawn Kelly’s safe return are with him and his family.
