Man arrested after allegedly beating woman with tire iron

PITTSBURGH — Richard Robinson, 52, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault after he allegedly beat a woman over the head with a tire iron last month.

Police said Robinson was previously wanted after violating his bond conditions in connection with a robbery in 2020. While awaiting trial on the robberies, he was placed on house arrest. He eventually left his home and, while on the run, he allegedly beat the woman.

Allegheny County Sheriff’s Deputies learned Robinson was at UPMC Shadyside Hospital. He was found there still wearing his ankle bracelet.

He was arrested and taken to the Allegheny County Jail.
