Man arrested for threatening Westmoreland Co. judge back in prison

DERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A man who was arrested for threatening a judge is back in prison.

He's now accused of threatening another man and trying to break into his home.

The victim opened fire on the man to try and stop him from getting in.

Paul Barsoum was recently charged with threatening a judge in Derry Township.

"Shocked me, shocked me a little bit. Other than that, cops were here they took care of everything," said neighbor Damon Disciascio.

There is still damage left behind from where police say a victim was assaulted outside of his Derry Township townhouse and fired a bullet through the door as the suspect tried to force his way inside.

Barsoum is accused of sending threatening text messages to the victim, and showing up at his house on Skoloda Lane Sunday to confront him.

"Mr. Barsoum started to force his way into the residence, beating on the door and tried to forcibly open the doorknob and push his way in," said Trooper Stephen Limani with Pennsylvania State Police.

The victim told him to leave, but police say Barsoum wouldn't back down and broke the doorknob as he tried to get inside.

"At that point in time the victim shot one round toward the door where Mr. Barsoum was on the other side," Limani said.

The bullet shattered the glass of the victim's door, ricocheted across the yard and hit a neighbor's door.

"Apparently there was two shots and it just sounded like two car doors," said Disciascio, who lives directly next door and was in his kitchen making dinner when he saw Barsoum coming and going. "Just thought somebody was dropping someone off and two minutes later I see him casually leaving and my wife came home asking what was going on outside."

Pennsylvania State Police were called, but Barsoum was already gone.

He's facing more charges for allegedly sending threatening text messages, even after he left.

"You missed me when you shot at me and said I'm going to get a gun and I'm going to Shoot you and when I shoot you, I'm not gonna miss," Limani said, describing the text messages.

No one was hurt.

Investigators say the two did know each other, but they are still looking into a motive behind it.
