BUTLER, Pa. — A Butler man was charged with attempted homicide after police say he shot at another person in a vehicle on Monday.

Darnell A. Wynn, 41, was also charged with aggravated assault, drug possession, possession of a firearm by a felon and several misdemeanor charges after the shooting incident on Mitchell Avenue in the early morning hours Monday.

Butler City Police said Wynn fired several rounds into a vehicle occupied by another person. The shell casings and vehicle were recovered.

Search warrants were executed at a home in the 500 block of State Street with the help of the Butler County Emergency Services Unit, which responds to high-risk situations much like a SWAT team, and Wynn was taken into custody, police said.

Inside the house, police said a .40-caliber Glock handgun, approximately two ounces of crack cocaine and approximately 180 grams of heroin (equal to 10,000 stamp bags) were found.

Wynn was taken to the Butler County Prison, arraigned and is being held in the Butler County Jail after bail was denied.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 22.
