PITTSBURGH — The person burned in Tuesday morning’s apartment building fire in Pittsburgh’s Squirrel Hill neighborhood has died, officials said.
The Allegheny County medical examiner said Bruce Pitzer, 63, died at UPMC Mercy Hospital.
Pitzer's cause and manner of death of not yet been determined, officials said.

Flames broke out in a third-floor apartment at Murray Towers on Murray Avenue just before 4:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Pitzer was found in a stairwell, Pittsburgh Fire Chief Darryl Jones said.
Channel 11 spoke to Pitzer's sister on the phone. She said she still hasn't heard from investigators about what started fire inside the building.
She told us her brother lived in the complex for years.

Paramedics evaluated a woman at the scene for smoke inhalation, officials said. She was not taken to a hospital.
Residents, with the exception of those who live on the third floor, were able to return to their apartments.
While the fire was contained to the one apartment, there is extensive smoke damage on the third floor, officials said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
