SCOTT TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A man has been charged with homicide in the death of a 70-year-old man whose body was found Thursday evening along railroad tracks in Scott Township.

Vendell Nasir III, 28, is accused of killing Joseph Williams, of Carnegie, by beating and apparently attacking him with a knife, according to a criminal complaint.

Williams’ body was found with multiple stab wounds just before 6 p.m. next to the railroad tracks along Creek Street, near a homeless camp behind South Hills Self Storage, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

A bloody knife was found about 30 feet from Williams’ body, near a path to the homeless camp, the complaint said.

Nasir was found by the homeless camp with blood on his hands and clothes, as well as fresh cuts on his hand, according to police. Witnesses told officers they saw Nasir punching and kicking Williams.
