PITTSBURGH — One man is dead and another is expected to be charged with homicide after an assault in Pittsburgh’s Knoxville neighborhood.
Investigators said they were called to the 200 block of Reifert Street around 12:40 a.m. Aug. 17 for a report of a fight. Police found the victim unconscious inside a home. Witness said a neighbor hit the man with a table leg.
Medics transported the victim to a nearby hospital in critical condition. He died from his injuries 10 days later.
The suspect, Walter Jones, was arrested at the scene. Court papers said Jones told police three men approached him yelling that his music was too loud outside his home. He said one of those men had a machete.
Jones said an argument started and he went inside to get a table leg. He said he was in fear when the men spread out in front of him. He then hit one of them with the table leg.
Police said the entire incident was caught on surveillance camera.
