Man dies in crash at 79/70 junction in Washington County

SOUTH STRABANE TWP., Pa. — One person was killed in a crash after his vehicle overturned at the junction of interstates 79 and 70 in Washington County early Saturday.

The incident occurred just before 1 a.m. at the Interstate 70 East/Interstate 79 South Junction in South Strabane Township.

According to the Washington County Coroner’s Office, Samuel Schoedel, 22, of Eighty Four, was driving on I-79 entering the on ramp to I-70 when the vehicle hit a guide rail and overturned.

He was not wearing a seat belt, according to the coroner’s office. He was pronounced dead shortly before 2 a.m.

The Pennsylvania State Police continues to investigate.
