Man dies in motorcycle crash in Washington County

SOUTH STRABANE TWP., Pa. — A Washington County man was killed in a motorcycle crash on Interstate 70 on Monday.

The crash occurred shortly after 10 p.m. near mile marker 18 at the Murtland Avenue onramp in South Strabane Township, according to the Pennsylvania State Police.

According to the Washington County Coroner’s Office, the motorcycle rider was identified as Homer Howard Thomas Jr., 41 of Washington.

Police said Thomas was driving a 2022 Harley Davidson motorcycle, entering the interstate when he crossed into the center lane and the path of a 2014 Hyundai tractor-trailer driven by a 48-year-old man. Police said the motorcycle hit the passenger side of the tractor-trailer and then slid.

Thomas was taken to Washington Hospital, where he later died. He was not wearing a helmet.
