Man in court accused of beating cab driver to death

PITTSBURGH — One of the suspects, Hosea Moore, testified against his three friends, describing the motivation of the beating in great detail in court. Now all four men will have their cases go to trial.

The details are disturbing, police say four men called a cab to Beltzhoover late at night with the sole intention of robbing the driver.

Days later that driver, Ramadhan Mohamed, was dead after the severe beating and four men were behind bars.

"We're just doing the best we can given our situation,” said Kevin Abramovitz, Hosea Moore’s attorney.

During Friday's hearing, suspect Hosea Moore waived his preliminary hearing and testified against fellow defendants Daniel Russell, Christian Glenn, and King Edwards.

Moore says the suspects discussed calling the cab to rob him earlier that night.

He also was the first man to open the door and punch Mohamed, but told the judge the other men involved pulled Mohamed out of the car and kicked and punched him repeatedly, stealing cash and leaving him beaten on the ground.

After Friday's hearing, Moore's attorney spoke about the incident his client described.

"This is a situation where a man lost his life in a horrible, horrible set of circumstances,” Abramovitz said. “There's nothing that's going to make that right."

The judge held all of the charges against the four suspects for court.

But as the case moves closer to trial, Moore's testimony could come into question.

"I look forward to challenging the credibility of this witness up the street,” said attorney Rob Carey.

All four suspects will be formally arraigned in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas next month.
