HOPWOOD, Pa. — A man led Pennsylvania State Police from Uniontown on a 9-mile chase Thursday while allegedly holding a woman against her will in the car, authorities said.
Roger Strawser, of Oakland, Maryland, was involved in a pursuit earlier in the day in Garrett County while the woman was in the car, according to police. Strawser got away and the woman, also of Oakland, asked him to take him home, but he would not let her out of the car.
Strawser then drove to Fayette County, at times using the child locks, police paperwork stated.
Authorities said the woman was able to briefly escape and contacted family and friends in Maryland, who contacted the Garrett County Sheriff’s Office and PSP Uniontown.
PSP Uniontown troopers found the car in Hopwood, where the 9-mile pursuit began. During the chase, the woman could be seen inside the car waving for help, along with another woman, police said.
The chase ended near the West Virginia border.
Strawser, who had a felony warrant for a recent pursuit with sheriffs in Preston County, West Virginia, was arrested. He faces charges of false imprisonment, resisting arrest, unlawful restraint, drug possession, driving under the influence, fleeing and eluding, and flight to avoid apprehension, along with numerous traffic citations.
