Man left for dead on Homewood street after hit and run

PITTSBURGH — A man was left for dead on a Homewood street after a driver hit him with a vehicle and took off.

Police said they are still searching for the driver who left Von Washington dying in the street. Washington, a father, son, friend and cousin, was killed in his own neighborhood.

Investigators said two women actually flagged down officers at around 11 p.m. Tuesday, directing them to the scene on Kelly Street. Washington was alive when he was taken to the hospital, but he died there.
