MAHONING TWP., Pa. — A man was shot and killed by police after they say he stabbed several people, including an officer, on Saturday.
The incident occurred shortly before 8:45 p.m. at the Mahoning Township Sportsmen’s Association in the 3800 block of West Main Street, Mahoning Township, Lawrence County.
People who were in attendance tell Channel 11 that the sportsmen’s club was hosting a family fun day open house with live music when the incident occurred.
Several police agencies responded to the area after a stabbing incident was reported. Police said Christopher E. Rush, 34, of New Castle, stabbed several people. The victims were identified as a 15-year-old boy, a 61-year-old Ohio man and a 37-year-old Ohio man.
Rush was armed with a cutting instrument and proceeded to assault and injure a local police officer, before another officer shot and killed him.
This incident is actively being investigated by the Pennsylvania State Police New Castle Criminal Investigation Unit.
Officials with the club would not comment on the situation, and police were not available for comment as of Sunday morning.
