PITTSBURGH — A man was stabbed in the back in downtown Pittsburgh on Friday evening.

The incident occurred on the corner of Fourth Avenue and Wood Street shortly before 6 p.m.

Police said when first responders arrived, they found a man with a stab wound to his back. The man was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

During the initial investigation, police learned this was not a random incident, and the suspect ran off. No further information was released.

The investigation is ongoing.
