ALIQUIPPA, Pa. — Police in Aliquippa said a man wanted for his involvement in an armed robbery was not inside a home where they were trying to serve a search warrant Wednesday.
Officers surrounded a home on Jones Street for several hours after trying to serve Jesse Bates with a warrant related to the Sept. 14 robbery.
Several people exited the home, possibly including children, Channel 11 learned. Bates, 18, was believed to be inside, but after a thorough search he was not found.
"Of course, any situation where there's a warrant for violent crimes -- any incident, really -- we have to assume that (he's armed), so we're taking every precaution possible," said state Trooper Dan Kesten.
Some of the officers involved in the standoff were involved in a Tuesday standoff with an armed man in Renfrew. Troopers shot and killed that man when he pointed a rifle at them.
Police are now looking for Bates and another man, Caleb Murray of Sewickley, in connection with that armed robbery.
