Man's arrest ends SWAT situation in Carrick

A man was arrested following a SWAT situation in Pittsburgh's Carrick neighborhood Friday.

Sebastian Perella, 24, who was being sought by police, broke into a person's home Friday.

Police were originally called to the neighborhood at approximately 7:45 p.m. concerning a warrant for Perella's arrest. They later learned he was being sought on probation violations.

When they tried to take Perella into custody, he refused and ran into a residence in the 100 block of East Agnew Road behind the BP gas station on Brownsville Road.

Perella hid in the residence, which was occupied by a man and his 3-year-old daughter. They exited the apartment through a window, according to Pittsburgh city public safety spokeswoman Sonya Toler.

Toler said a SWAT team was called to the scene just before 8 p.m. and officers began instructing Perella to surrender.

Perella refused to come out until SWAT officers warned him that a K-9 dog would be sent into the residence.

Perella surrendered about two hours after the situation began. He is now facing burglary charges, flight to avoid apprehension and endangering the welfare of a child, police said.
