The initial call to police was for a person not breathing behind a dumpster outside the Club at North Hills Apartments along Duncan Avenue, which is near the McCandless Crossing shopping plaza.
Investigators found the 23-year-old man dead, police said. The 25-year-old woman was taken to a hospital in critical condition, where she later died.
Homicide detectives believe the man and woman were the only people involved in the shooting. The woman was identified as Molly Beardsley.
On Thursday, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner said that Beardsley’s manner of death was suicide. The man still has not been identified.
Allegheny County police and McCandless police detectives determined the victims were married and don’t live at the apartment complex.
Investigators also determined the shooting happened where the couple was found.
No one else is involved or in danger, police said, and investigators are working with the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s office.

“I walked out to get a coffee initially and that’s when I heard some type of like gasp,” said Ryan Giernacky who lives nearby.
Giernacky called 911 right away.
“I was in shock, honestly. Obviously a Home Goods is right here and I mean I live right on the corner there so just knowing something happened 30 feet from your door, it’s insane right?,” he said.
Channel 11 contacted the management company for the Club at North Hills apartment complex and a regional manager released the following statement:
