Mars district, teachers union reach agreement avoiding strike

MARS, Pa. — An agreement was reached avoiding a strike in the Mars School District, according to union officials.

The final details of the agreement still need to be ironed out over the next few weeks, according to leaders.

Teachers in the district threatened to go on strike if a new contract wasn’t agreed on. Union leaders said the current contract expired last June.

There are about 3,300 students in the district that would have been impacted if educators walked off the job.
