McKeesport native co-authoring children's book aimed at keeping kids off heroin

The heroin epidemic is impacting more children than ever and a McKeesport native is trying to do something about it by co-authoring a book about heroin, geared toward children.

Justin Drish is a drug and alcohol counselor, but six years ago, he was an addict.

Now, he's sharing his story to keep kids off drugs.

He's interviewed parents, police officers, teachers and funeral home directors to show how opioids are ruining lives.

"At one point in time, I was homeless, in the back of my car,” Drish said. “Today, I'm a father of two, a husband and a drug and alcohol counselor just out here trying to give more people hope that this is possible for them as well."
