Fugitive from Chicago captured during major drug bust in Pittsburgh neighborhood

PITTSBURGH — A fugitive wanted by federal authorities in Chicago was nabbed during a major drug bust in Pittsburgh’s Highland Park neighborhood.

Randall Langston, 26, was arrested on Friday during a “buy and bust” operation led by the Pa. Office of Attorney General. Officers with Penn Hills, Wilkinsburg and Pittsburgh were all involved.

The operation took place outside of the Highland House Towers building. Around 4:30 p.m., a police informant reportedly texted Langston, arranging to purchase 50 bricks of heroin. Once Langston got outside, agents converged. The criminal complaint states Langston attempted to flee but was tackled on the sidewalk and taken into custody.

Officials tell Channel 11 that Langston had the 50 bricks in his waistband. Police then searched the apartment where he was staying, and discovered about $400,000 worth in fentanyl, plus packaging material and a gun reported stolen out of Uniontown.

A local man, Fela Powell, was also inside the apartment and faces several drug charges.

According to local sources, Langston had been living at the Highland House Towers building and selling drugs across the Pittsburgh region for about a year.

On Monday, Channel 11 visited the apartment building and attempted to buzz the leasing office for a comment. No one answered. WPXI also tried to call the apartment where Langston had apparently been living, but a resident was not listed in the directory.

Langston had been wanted out of Chicago, where he was charged for his alleged role in the AHK street gang. The gang’s leader was accused of trying to support ISIS.

It’s not clear if Langston will be extradited back to Chicago to face charges there.
