BUTLER, Pa. — A medical marijuana dispensary opened Thursday morning in Butler for Pennsylvania’s first legal purchase of medical marijuana.
CY+ Dispensary on Pillow Street opened at 9 a.m., with some customers lined up ahead of time. A tent was set up around the corner.
Customers must show a state-issued card before they’re allowed in the dispensary.
Diana Briggs was the first customer. She bought capsules for her 17-year-old son, who has epilepsy.
“My husband and I transported it and brought it here, and we have taken Ryan from over 400 seizures a day to, the last two days, he’s been under 50,” Briggs said.
The Butler dispensary will offer over 100 different medical marijuana products and provide opportunities for one-on-one consultations to find the right product for each patient.
CY+ Dispensary is run by Cresco Yeltrah, which was awarded two permits in the state’s application process, and operates a cultivation facility in Brookville. Another dispensary is set for Pittsburgh’s Strip District, with a third location yet to be announced.
