CLAIRTON, Pa. — A shooting during an argument wounded two men, killing one of them, Wednesday night in Clairton, police said.
The shooting was reported shortly after 7 p.m. on Mulberry Alley. Police and paramedics responded to the scene behind a Family Dollar store, not far from Clairton High School.
According to police, one of the men was getting work done on his car when the other man came up and began arguing with him.
It's not clear what the argument was about, but gunshots were fired not long after.
Investigators determined 40-year-old Eric Turner pulled out the gun and shot the other man, who was able to obtain the gun during a physical altercation. Turner was then shot once in the head by the 42-year-old.
“We believe the person who is deceased brought the firearm and shot at the other person, and that person disarmed him and shot in his own defense,” Allegheny County Police Lt. Andrew Schurman said.
Turner died at a hospital.

The 42-year-old man was treated at a hospital for gunshot wounds to his leg and arm. His injuries were not life-threatening, police said.
Police said the 42-year-old was cooperative with detectives, and witnesses corroborated his story.
At the conclusion of the police investigation, the findings will be reviewed by the district attorney’s office to determine whether any charges will be filed.
