Google is paying tribute to Fred Rogers Friday, 51 years to the day since the Pittsburgh native taped the first episode of "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood."
Rogers is being celebrated on Google's homepage, with the search engine's Google Doodle portraying him.
Mister Rogers' Neighborhood was made available for national distribution in 1968.
A movie based on the life of Rogers will start production in the Pittsburgh region in the fall. Tom Hanks will play Rogers in "You Are My Friend."
