Monessen High School grad Frances McDormand wins best actress Oscar

LOS ANGELES — Western Pennsylvania was well-represented at this year's Academy Awards.

Monessen High School graduate Frances McDormand won the Oscar for best actress for her role in 'Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri'.

McDormand graduated from Monessen High School in 1975 before embarking on her acting career.

Early winners included “The Shape of Water,” “Dunkirk” and “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.”
