HARRISBURG — Channel 11 is digging into the new numbers that were just released by the Attorney General's Office about the surge in calls to the states abuse hotline.
In the two years that the grand jury looked into the alleged sex abuse by priest in the Catholic diocese, the abuse hotline only received 300 calls. However, in the five weeks since that grand jury report was released, the abuse hotline has received 1,071 calls.
The Attorney General's Office is not commenting on the nature of the calls or where they're from, only that several new investigations are underway.
