PARKS TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A mother and two children were flown to a Pittsburgh hospital after a fire Thursday morning at a home in Armstrong County, officials said.
Flames were first reported about 5:30 a.m. at the home on Dime Road in Parks Township. The mother called 911, officials said.
The mother and two children, ages 2 and 5, were trapped on the second floor and were rescued through a window, officials said. One of the children is a boy and the other is a girl.

Officials said the mother and children were conscious and alert when they were flown from the scene, but they were suffering from smoke inhalation.
Investigators said the fire started in a storage area on the first floor and the flames were contained to the back of the home.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
