SWISSVALE, Pa. — The mother of a 15-year-old boy found shot to death in a Wilkinsburg alley this week told Channel 11 she moved several times to get her children away from violent communities.
"I’ve always said ever since my kids were born that they are pieces of me," said Mica Otusile, whose son Tyrelle Bowyer died Monday. "He was the funny, compassionate one, and he was always comforting people."

Bowyer's mother talked to Channel 11 about her frustrations in finding resources to keep kids out of trouble.
"He wanted to separate from people -- all they are doing is smoking weed all day, they don't have goals, no aspirations," Otusile said. " I want to know what happened, I do. But more so I want to know why, when I was trying to find ways for my son to be more settled in his skin, I didn't have anything. That's really what my question is," Otusile said.

Bowyer attended the Woodland Hills School District. He loved to write, create music and play sports.
"Our children are expressing that their peers are behaving a certain way or if you're trying to keep them out of trouble, there aren't many resources," Otusile said.
Bowyer suffered the same fate as several current and former students.

Parents held signs of their faces at Wednesday night's school board meeting.
The assistant superintendent told Channel 11 the district is expanding a program called Restorative Practices that's designed to help students cope.
