MCKEESPORT, Pa. — Keiona Morris said she’s had enough after the school bus failed to show up for a third day in a row.
“This past Friday, he couldn’t go to school because Bus 20 was canceled. Tuesday Bus 20 was canceled and today, which is Wednesday, Bus 20 is canceled and that is the bus he’s on daily,” Morris said.
She said she called the McKeesport Area School District demanding answers.
“Be patient. We are starting to get things handled, it’s the bus lines, it’s the bus company. I’m tired of hearing the same thing when my son still has to get an education,” she said.
Channel 11 reached out to school officials about the busing issues. A statement from the district said:
“Due to a shortage of bus drivers, our contracted bus company (PA Coach Lines) has notified us that there will be a possible interruption in transportation for some families. Please be aware that beginning Friday morning 9/3/2021 PA Coach Lines may decide to not deploy several buses based on a driver shortage. We are hopeful they are able to meet the district’s transportation needs without interrupting our service. Please contact (412) 664-3689 if your child’s bus fails to arrive. MASD is committed to continue to explore viable options to address this untimely issue. Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you in advance for your patience”.
