PITTSBURGH — Dorai Harris loved to travel and had aspirations of owning her own hair salon. Her mother is now on a mission to get justice and find her killer.

“She was just a month short of celebrating her 22nd birthday,” Harris’ mother said.

Harris’ mother didn’t want her name published but she wanted people to know that all she has left of her daughter are pictures and memories.

“I picture her walking in the door. I still pick up my phone to call and text her, wait for her to call me, you know. I wait for everything. I don’t get that moment anymore,” she said.

Harris was shot and killed in McKees Rocks on July 12 just after midnight on Gray Street. She was shot multiple times and was taken to an area hospital where she later died.

More than three months later, Harris’ mother believes the killer was someone her daughter trusted.

“How could you witness a cold-blooded murder and not say something? It can be an easy, solvable crime by just saying something,” she said.

Allegheny County police said they can’t share details of their investigation but said they are frustrated that an arrest hasn’t been made. Anyone with information is asked to please come forward.

The family has set up a fund and the money raised will go to anyone who has information leading to an arrest.
