MOUNT PLEASANT TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A Mount Pleasant Township man is doing all he can to make sure his son gets a life-saving kidney transplant.
William Dolan, 64, drives around with a large sign in the bed of his white pickup truck, spreading this message: “Please give the gift of life! My son needs a new kidney. If you would like to help, please call 724-542-4149.”
People who call the number are directed to the UPMC Transplant Services website, according to Channel 11’s news exchange partners at TribLIVE. There, they can learn more about becoming a living donor or starting the registration process.
Dolan’s son has Type O-positive blood.

Dolan told TribLIVE he knows not everyone who reads the sign will be a match for his 39-year-old son, William Jr., but it could help someone else.
Since last summer, Dolan has been driving around Westmoreland and Fayette counties with his sign, telling TribLIVE he sometimes parks at Westmoreland Mall.
