Lexi Campbell told Channel 11 she brought her kids from daycare Tuesday afternoon and walked into a heart-stopping sight: her home ransacked.
“They got in through the side door and just demolished the whole side door. There were three huge bolts,” Campbell said. “They went through every room in our house.”
Christmas gifts were torn into, every drawer was open, and jewelry and gift cards were stolen.
The thieves were also clearly hungry. They ate their way through the family’s home, cleaning out the fridge and freezer – even taking the leftovers.
“They took butter, my kids’ waffles and syrup, sugar from our drawers and pizza,” Campbell said.
Campbell told Channel 11 she has heard there have been “anywhere from 8-12” burglaries on Plainview Avenue since Thanksgiving.
To combat this growing issue, neighbors are now installing home security cameras, adding deadbolts to their doors and creating a neighborhood watch -- hoping someone catches the thieves before they hit another house.
Police are looking into the exact number of these burglaries.
