New hotel planned for historic building in downtown Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH — The pandemic isn’t stopping construction on a new hotel in downtown Pittsburgh.

Developers are moving full steam ahead, transforming this historic building into what they’re hoping will one day help to pull tourists back to the Steel City.

The historic Arrot Building in downtown will soon take on the name The Industrialist Hotel.

Crews have been hard at work for months redeveloping the Wood Street property.

HRI Properties and Marriott International are collaborating on the project, which is part of Marriott’s “Autograph Collection” brand.

Once completed, the 18-story downtown standout location will offer 124 hotel rooms.

It will include a lobby bar, a 1,200 square foot event space, fitness center and a new restaurant called “The Rebel Room.”

The hotel’s General Manager, Robert Brashler issued the following statement:

“We’re eager to officially open the doors here at The Industrialist and to give locals and visitors alike an authentic taste of Pittsburgh. From the bold design of the property itself, to our exciting new dining concepts, the entire space will pay homage to the city’s past, present and future.

While there have certainly been unique obstacles opening a hotel during the pandemic, our team has been incredibly flexible and nimble and we’re certain that Pittsburgh, the city known for its ingenuity, will soon again be a hub for those looking to experience a culturally vibrant destination full of history and excitement.”

People who frequent the area tell us they’re cautiously optimistic, and the fact that companies are investing here is promising.

The Industrialist Hotel is set to open by spring 2021.
