One person dead after drowning incident at Ohiopyle

OHIOPYLE, Pa. — Officials with Fayette County 911 confirmed one person was dead and five people were involved in a situation on the Youghiogheny River at Ohiopyle.

Park manager Ken Bisbee told Channel 11 between 1 and 1:30 p.m. a 911 call was made reporting several people in distress at the Rivers End Rapid. He said that a group of family and friends who rented a raft reported that one of the members of their group went under after falling from the raft.

Bisbee said the man got his foot stuck underwater and couldn't resurface and was underwater for about 35 minutes.
