Turner is charged with drug delivery resulting in death, a first-degree felony punishable by 40 years in prison and a $25,000 fine. Turner allegedly delivered heroin and fentanyl to North Fayette resident Daniel Scott, who subsequently died of an overdose, authorities said.

"This rough new charge is one key piece in an all out-fight to take down the dealers and battle the heroin and opioid epidemic raging across this commonwealth, particularly here in Pennsylvania," Shapiro said.

It's the first time this particular charge is being brought by the attorney general in Allegheny County.

"Selling drugs laced with fentanyl is like playing Russian roulette," Shapiro said. "You never know when there will be a bullet in the chamber."

North Fayette Police Chief Mark O'Donnell welcomes the charge and is determined to get opioids off the streets.

"It's a crisis. It's an epidemic, and we are going do all we can here in North Fayette to combat it," O'Donnell said.

The charges come after a joint investigation by Shapiro’s office and North Fayette police.

Three other defendants are charged with delivery of a controlled substance.
