The aerial demonstration was part of “Operation American Resolve,” a nationwide salute to all those supporting COVID-19 response efforts.

The flyover was initially scheduled for Friday, but was postponed because of the possibility of bad weather.

The planes passed Forbes Hospital around 12:18 p.m. then flew over other local hospitals before flying over UPMC Shadyside around 12:26 p.m.

People were encouraged to maintain social distancing practices while viewing the flyovers. The flyovers will not cost taxpayers anything.
