PITTSBURGH — There is a new way to access important COVID-19 vaccine information in Pennsylvania.
The Department of Health announced Friday that Pa. residents can now use the “COVID Alert PA” app to get new updates and information on the vaccine.
[Here is how to stay informed about coronavirus updates from WPXI]
Initially, the app was designed for people to report coronavirus symptoms and diagnoses, so that contact tracers could then notify people who would need to quarantine or get tested.
With the new update, the app includes:
- COVID-19 vaccine resources like “Your Turn” eligibility tool, vaccine provider locations near you, and access to CDC’s V-Safe health checker
- The ability to track state and county level COVID-19 vaccine administrations
- Updated data and privacy policy to address these new changes
The “Your Turn” tool provides a way to register and be alerted when it is your turn to be vaccinate -- based on location and health factors.
You can still use the app to find a testing location and other assistance and benefits, along with guidance on what to do if you have a potential exposure.
As a reminder, those without internet access but have questions can call 877-PA-HEALTH to speak with a representative.
