Parents concerned Woodland Hills moving to hire new superintendent with checkered past

WILKINSBURG, Pa. — Allegations of intimidating board members. Asking employees to complete private work on school district time. Lying about his DUI history. Knowingly hiring a man being investigated for murder.

Parents in the Woodland Hills School District tell Channel 11′s Sarafina James they’re extremely concerned Daniel Castagna will get hired as the new superintendent. And they’re very worried about his checkered past.

A district spokesperson said there is going to be a special meeting on Friday in which district leaders will discuss hiring him.

“I wish they could have made a better choice,” said parent Kenya Littrice.

Castagna was the superintendent for West Mifflin School District and was removed after a long list of accusations years ago.

This comes after Woodland Hills administrators voted to remove James Harris following a number of violent incidents in the district.
