PITTSBURGH — A tractor-trailer crash and fuel spill closed part of Route 28 southbound for several hours Thursday morning, police said.
The truck struck a barrier about 2 a.m. at the Millvale exit and fuel began to leak. Crews from a hazmat team, Allegheny County and a private company worked to clean up the fuel, and the truck was hauled away, police said.
An estimated 100 gallons of fuel spilled from the truck when the crash caused a tank to rupture, police said. The fuel spilled over a distance of about 100 yards.
